Do salt-free water softener systems work? A no-salt water softener does not work as far as softening water goes. A more accurate way to describe them would be “descalers” since they do reduce buildup in many (but not all) types of plumbing equipment.
What is HydroFLOW?
The HydroFLOW HS38 is a patented electronic water conditioner. It is a piece of equipment which fits around pipework and transmits an electronic signal into the water contained within. The signal propagates around the entire pipe system and causes the limescale present in the water to form into loose clusters.
How does the HydroFLOW water softener work?
HydroFLOW units transmit an electric field into the piping network and the water itself. This causes the mineral ions to form clusters which act as a starting point for the crystals, so that when water is heated, the limescale forms as fine powder in suspension, which can then be washed away by the flow.
Are salt-free water conditioners worth it?
Since a salt-free system crystallizes the calcium in your water, the calcium won’t be able to adhere to the insides of your pipes. That reduces scale buildup in your plumbing, which is the only benefit which a salt-free system offers. This falls far short of the many benefits a real water softener.
