Is it safe to upload to iCloud?
Everything stored in iCloud, including iCloud photos, is securely encrypted in transit and stored with encryption keys. Encryption keys are stored on Apple’s servers. Without these encryption keys, files can not be decrypted. Apple also uses “end-to-end” encryption for data.

How do I actually see what’s in my iCloud?
You can easily see what is stored within iCloud from any iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings and go to “iCloud”
- Tap on “Storage & Backup” then tap “Manage Storage”
- Look under “Documents & Data” to see which apps have iCloud documents available – note that both iOS and OS X apps storing documents in iCloud will be seen here.

Should I use iCloud backup or iCloud Drive?
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch iCloud Backup doesn’t save to iCloud Drive, although it does use the same iCloud storage. That means all your files and folders in iCloud Drive should be safe. If you want to keep a second copy of something, iCloud Drive is a good place to put it.
