Mostly I have been pretty tepid on the compact and full-sized M&P handguns but the Shield is an outstanding pistol. I’ve carried it, and I’d carry it again. It is extremely compact, extremely reliable, and extremely accurate. While 7+1 or 8+1 rounds is not quite up to “modern” standards, it’s also nothing to sneeze at.
Is the shield plus a good gun?
Strictly from a capacity standpoint, the M&P Shield Plus is already an improvement over the original, even if every other element of the gun remained unchanged. But S&W’s dimensional changes, combined with the new trigger design, make the gun better still. Smith’s team did a great job on this new trigger.

The M&P Shield 2.0 shot all the ammo in our test with no issues of any kind. The 1.0 model of this gun is my everyday carry defensive model, so yes, I do recommend the M&P Shield 2.0 for everyday carry. However, some of the features on this pistol are a bit dated.
