Should Case Fans point in or out?
Should Case Fans point in or out?
Use proper fan positioning Air should travel in clear path through the case. Generally, you want the case fans in front of the case drawing in air while the fans at the rear blow air out. If your case has vents at the top, they should be placed as exhaust fans because hot air will rise.
Which side of a case fan is the front?
When looking at our fans, the Front or Intake side of the fan will always be the side that has the Cooler Master Logo in the center of the blades. The Rear or Exhaust side (the side that the air comes out of) of our fans will always be the side that houses the fan motor.
Are extra case fans needed?
In most cases the case fans that are provided are adequate for what is needed. I would wait before buying additional fans until I have the system built and see how the temps are. For your build you are using a decent case, and you should not need any additional fans from the beginning.
Is 1 fan in case enough?
I recommend at least 2 fans. One for intake and one for exhaust for best results. You can get by with just one fan though if you are careful. Fans are like $5-10 though so it really shouldn’t be an issue.
Do GPU fans push or pull?
They typically pull air into the heat-sink from inside the case. Some coolers can then expel that hot air straight out the back of the video card outside your case. Some cards expel the hot air right back into your case.
Is 2 intake and 2 exhaust enough?
Depends on your fans. You can get fans that pull in more than the exhaust and still have positive pressure with 2 and 2. I have 2 intake and three exhaust due to two 280mm radiators and all my stuff stays nice and cool. Dust isn’t that big of an issue if you spray canned air occasionally.
How do you tell the direction of a case fan?
Look for the arrow Some case fans (but not all) have an arrow showing the direction of airflow. Some fans have a small arrow on the casing that indicate the direction of airflow. Whichever way the arrow points, that’s the side that air will blow from. (Yep, it’s that easy.)
Is it better to have 2 140mm fans or 3 120mm fans?
Generally speaking, with airflow equitable, the 140mm will be spinning slower and quieter. However, most 120mm will spin at max faster that a 140mm, so 3x 120mm can put out more cfm, if barely. Mostly it boils down to aesthetics.
Do Case Fans Matter?
Yes, they do matter. You basically need to create a “breeze” inside your case to cool the northbridge, mosfets etc. There is a good chance your drive cages are obstructing the front intake fans airflow.
Is two case fans enough?
2 case fans (1 intake in front, 1 exhaust at the back) show biggest improvements to cpu and gpu thermals. Adding more fans improves temps by less than 2-3 degs each at diminishing returns.
How many case fans do I need for gaming?
It is always our recommendation that you buy cases with a minimum of 3 fans (or at least slots for adding them yourself) for gaming systems, not counting the power supply, CPU, and GPU fans.
