Association Offices Return To Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center
The Association of Former Students staff is back in the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center, and stand ready to help you with your Club, Class, Aggie Ring, and all other former student needs from our on-campus home. Construction began 12 months ago on enhancements to the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center, which will enable the building to continue to serve a former student and current student base that is much larger than when the building was first built. Some projects, including the Haynes Ring Plaza and displays of Texas A&M history, remain under construction, and work inside the building will continue throughout the next year.

Texas A&M: Most Bang
For Your Tuition Bucks
Texas A&M University is rated by Smart Money magazine as the highest university in the nation for its "payback ratio," or the earning levels an institution's graduate receives compared to what they paid in tuition, fees and other costs for their undergraduate educations. In a list pared down to 50, none of the nation's colleges and universities could beat Texas A&M. President Dr. Elsa Murano said that Texas A&M limited its tuition hike this year to its lowest percentage in 10 years.

New Aggies Attend Spring Conferences
Texas A&M University officials welcomed 727 transfer students and 77 incoming freshmen this spring semester as they attended one of three new student conferences in January. New undergraduate students are required to attend one of the conferences sponsored by the Office of New Student Programs. The conferences are a collaborative effort among colleges, divisions and departments to help the students make the transition from high school to university life.

MLK Day On Campus
"Campus With a Dream" festivities continue through Jan. 31 to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Festivities include the first Dr. Martin Luther King breakfast Jan. 22, sponsored by the MSC's Woodson Black Awareness Committee. "Campus With a Dream" started Jan. 17 as a campuswide effort, bringing together different campus organizations to utilize the passion and spirit associated with King and foster a spirit of action in the leaders of today.

2008 Was Historic For A&M
It was a historic year for Texas A&M University. The year started off with Dr. Elsa Murano becoming the first woman and first Hispanic-American to serve as University president. In September, after Hurricane Ike damaged TAMU-Galveston, about 1,500 Sea Aggies continued classes in College Station. Fall enrollment made Texas A&M the sixth largest university in the nation, and the University awarded a record of 10,638 degrees for the 2007-08 school year. Texas A&M also was ranked in several superlative surveys, including ones for best value, highest earnings by former students, and best overall institutions.
