New Year’s Resolution
Resolve. . .
To make a difference
To help a needy neighbor
To change someone’s life for the better
. . .in 2010
Every year around the holidays, the steady bustle of preparing for festivities begins and continually increases until the last twinkling piece of confetti falls to the floor at the opening of a new year. People give their last pocket full of change and bid-adieu to the familiar Salvation Army Bell-Ringers who pepper doorways all across the United States from Thanksgiving through Christmas. |

Most people however, are relatively unaware of what happens to the money that is generously put in the candy-apple Red Kettles.
At The Salvation Army, Kettle funds are used each day of the year to provide services to the needy in communities across Texas. Kettle funds provide for needs such as clothing, prescription assistance, camp scholarships, gasoline assistance, food boxes, and grocery store vouchers for perishable food.
So a Red Kettle gift in December becomes a means to provide a lifeline of assistance to those in need in throughout the year---from the cold days of winter to the scorching months of summer, to the coming of Christmas the next year.
During the last fiscal year, The Salvation Army helped close to 29,104,361 people nationally through various social services programs, and served 69,053,263 meals to the hungry. To all who drop donations in the Red Kettle during the 2009 Christmas season, we thank you.
