Ongar railway station is a station on the Epping Ongar Railway heritage line, and a former London Underground station in the town of Chipping Ongar, Essex.
Why was Ongar station closed?
Throughout the 1980s and early 90s the service to Epping was slowly reduced due to low passenger numbers. It was under threat of the axe for many years and in 1994 it finally closed. The last London Underground train left Ongar station on September 30, 1994.

The Epping-Ongar Railway, part of the Central Line until 1994, stopped running heritage services in 2007. The volunteer organisation which has run the line since 2004, renewed the track, refurbished rolling stock and restored buildings. It resumed passenger services between Ongar and Coopersale on Friday.
