Welcome to the forum. Rethymnon is a proper working town of the island, and not a resort. So yes it is lively. However the hotel you are refering to, although it’s one of the best of the town, is far away from the town itself, and you’d need at least 15 – 20 min by bus and a bit less by taxi to get there.
